Try these natural hypo-thyroid support remedies. Hypothyroid is slow developing and shows subtle outward signs. The slow destruction of the thyroid is hard to see of detect because the function is kept to normal levels as the thyroid enlarges. Finally, there is not enough tissue to produce the proper amounts of thyroxin and there comes the more obvious signs.
Regeneration of some tissue is possible but may need time, patience, and temporary thyroid medication (Preferably Armor natural thyroid by prescription). Prevention is the best solution. Use iodine-rich foods from the sea or ocean and avoid fluoridated water, supplement soy products, and cruciferous vegetables such as kale, cabbage, etc.
Symptoms include: forgetfulness, weight gain, PMS, menstrual changes, paleness without anemia, dry skin and hair, low blood pressure, slowed deep-tendon reflexes, cold intolerance, constipation, fatigue, apathy, swelling of tissues, low voice, hoarseness, goiter, brittle nails, stiff achy cramping muscles, weakness, hair loss, mental dullness, slow growth and development, swollen tongue, nervousness that goes into dullness, and the face looking fat with squinty eyes in menopausal women. In youth, growth in children slow and bones are affected. One may also see water retention, slow pulse, and obesity.
The under or over-function of the thyroid can cause a goiter. Most often we see goiters as a lack of iodine, and a hyperthyroid condition. Hypothyroid goiters are hard. The anterior pituitary can play a part in hypothyroidism.
Causes may include:
Low thyroid but no medications – use a general thyroid remedy. One of these may be their general remedy. (Calc Carb, Sepia, Nat Mur, Lycopodium – see more remedies under Homeopathic Choices.) In this group you ignore the thyroid and give one of the above indicated remedies. It stimulates circulation, speeds up metabolism, and helps to normalize the thyroid.
Low thyroid, using Synthroid in 2 grains or less a day – generally used for many years – Use GENERAL REMEDY (see Homeopathic Choices) first, then build up 1-2 months (in 50-60% of people the thyroid kicks in), improvement in 1-2 months, then can be weaned off prescription slowly.
Coming off “COLD TURKEY” from thyroid medications, people CRASH in 2 weeks or less. Sepia, Calc Carb, Nat Mur, Lycopodium, use in low potency 6c. If “crashed” then use acute remedy Thyroid 6X -stop general remedy or give together. Use thyroid remedies first thing in the morning. If thyroid kicks in, the person starts getting warm-blooded and restless – GOOD SIGN!
Thyroid is atrophied; Synthroid medications are not working any more. Use Thyroid 6X, or use Bladderwrack or Kelp. Then go to general thyroid remedies in 6c (Calc Carb, Nat Mur, Lycopodium, Sepia – see Homeopathic Choices below).
In Radio-active Iodine damage, there may be a small part of the thyroid still functioning. The real cure is in the person’s general (constitutional) remedy.
* It is wise to get thyroid function tests every couple of months until the thyroid stabilizes at a normal level for several months. If unsure of your general remedy, consult a professional homeopath.
Naturally, you can eat lots of seaweeds to provide organic iodine to waken the thyroid into producing its own hormones. Take them in capsules or powders. Add to this molasses, parsley, apricots, dates, prunes, fish, and chicken.

Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one.
