Heat Exhaustion, Rehydrating Natural Remedies

Try these heat exhaustion natural remedies. Heat exhaustion occurs when the body over heats. Normally, the body cools itself by sweating. But if you are exposed to high temperatures for a long time and don’t replace the fluids you lose, the body systems that regulate temperature become overwhelmed. As a result, the body produces more heat than it can dissipate. Heat exhaustion requires immediate attention, because it can progress to heat stroke, a serious (even fatal) illness. The person is mentally alert but weak and exhausted. They are still sweating; but they MUST be re-hydrated and cooled.

Heat Stroke or Sunstroke is the stage past heat exhaustion. It is very dangerous – even fatal. The person is no longer sweating. They are confused, tired, dizzy, fainting, and the face can be flushed. There may also be nausea, a rapid pulse and severe headache, or a fever. They need immediate re-hydration and cooling. VERY DANGEROUS – seek medical attention then cool and re-hydrate the person quickly.

Exposure to the sun or heat without adequate water and cooling may create serious conditions. Re-hydration and cooling is essential. Modern medicine will use intravenous rehydration solutions.

There can be chronic, long-term effects from heat or sunstroke. The following natural solutions may help you if you have experienced heat exhaustion or heat stroke and are experiencing continuing symptoms. Rehydrate by eating or juicing carrots, celery or lettuce. Cool teas of demulcent herbs are often helpful to restore body fluids.

Natural Healing Protocol — First, choose an herb. Then add a cell salt or cell salt solution. Finally, choose the homeopathic remedy that fits your situation best. Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one. Your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time symptoms have been present.
