Use these ear infection natural remedies for pain in the ears which may signal an inner ear infection. Found mostly in infants to children six years of age, ear infections can affect older children as well as adults. Prominent signs of ear infections include pain, crying, pulling at the ears, dizziness, and discharges when the eardrum bursts, loss of hearing, and sometimes glands under the jaw are painful and swollen.
Common causes of ear infections include allergic reactions to dairy or baked goods, feeding a child solid food before they are 12 months, reactions to mother’s milk from the food she has been eating, and allergens in the air or even second hand smoke. Look for blocked Eustachian tubes also.
Modern medicine usually treats ear infections with antibiotics; then the infection usually returns about every few weeks as the antibiotic only treated symptoms. If chronic, then tubes are put in the ears; sometimes this doesn’t work. Then there are the side effects and toxicity of the medications involved.
The natural perspective includes recognizing and earache before it gets going. An easy method is to press on the bone behind both ears firmly without causing pain, and moving down to press on the Eustachian tube to the bottom of the neck. If the child, or adult, winces or is in pain on either side, then it’s most likely an earache or infection. Bear in mind that this method will catch most earaches, but check with your doctor. I suspect that children with vaccinations have more earaches; many other natural health practitioners believe the same way.
I used the following methods for my children when they were young and found positive results within 24 to 48 hours; you can also do this while the person is on medication.
