Bursitis Natural Remedies

The bursae are pockets of thick fluid sacks that lubricate and protect the tendons and joints. They are damaged from injury or over use. This causes pain and inflammation (bursitis) and there may also be stiffness, tenderness and burning, all worse from motion.

Most medical treatment for bursitis includes NSAIDS (Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) with all their side effects, toxicity, and slowing of the healing process. If these don’t work, then they may use injections that may only help symptoms.

From the natural perspective we help bursitis by changing a person’s lifestyle if it is from over use, and to help reduce inflammation in the body so the body can repair itself.

Diet – reduce the toxic load to the body so it has the strength to repair. Eliminate alcohol, tobacco, coffee, black tea, fast foods and dairy.

Supplements for bursitis symptoms include fish oil at 6,000 mg a day to reduce inflammation and help cardiovascular health. Bromelain at 2500 GDU 1 tablet or capsule three times a day between meals as a pain and inflammation reducer; MSM at 6,000 mg a day to assist the body in repair.

Natural Healing Protocol — First, choose an herb. Then add a cell salt or cell salt solution. Finally, choose the homeopathic remedy that fits your situation best. Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one. Your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time symptoms have been present.

Herbs for Bursitis

Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.

Externally for bursitis use a castor oil pack. Using a cloth soaked in castor oil, cover the inflamed joints or other affected areas and apply a hot pack over it. Do this twice a day for an hour. It may take several days to weeks but relief can be immediate and very effective. Internally the strategy is to use anti-inflammatory, circulatory and pain relieving herbs for bursitis. Use one capsule of each two or three (best) times a day.
