Teeth represent the ability to grip onto life. As we chew, they reduced food so that we can feed ourselves. Tooth problems mean we can no longer nourish ourselves. If life’s problems are too hard to bite through, the teeth are affected. When we lose teeth, we are giving up the ability to solve our problems.
Louise Hay, in her book Heal Your Body, says that teeth represent decisions and are long-standing indecisiveness. They also represent the inability to break down ideas for analysis and decisions. Root canals are associated with, “I can’t bite into anything any more,” or our root beliefs being destroyed. Karol Truman, in Feelings Buried Alive Never Die, says painful teeth represent the inability to be decisive.
Teeth are a symbol of energy and vitality. Poor dental health shows a loss of motivation and energy. Dreaming of losing your teeth shows a loss of vitality and motivation. When we “show our teeth” to others we are defending ourselves. Grinding teeth at night demonstrates feelings of powerlessness and is a protest against authority, and a possible sign of repressed agitation towards an authority figure.
Your bite is a representation of will power; a strong bite shows you have a strong will. The gums are the foundation of the teeth and give them their strength. It is symbolic of doubt or self confidence, and shows peace or agitation within ourselves. Bleeding gums show a lack of self trust and self esteem.
Physically, most tooth problems start because of a lack of calcium, often times a problem of the body’s inability to absorb calcium correctly.
Years ago, I had a new porcelain cap with constant pain in my tooth. The dentist had fixed a broken tooth, but could not fix the pain. I found a product called Calcium Absorption Formula by A.Vogel, a homeopathic formula that helps the body to absorb calcium efficiently. Within two days my tooth settled down, and after two weeks I was free of pain and didn’t need to use any more.
10 years later, the same tooth came up hurting again. One day a client of mine reported that taking calcium kept his capped teeth from hurting. So, I thought I’d try it. I used Liquid Calcium Citrate, one tablespoon twice a day. And after 3 or 4 days the tooth settled down. I finished taking the bottle a month later. The results were the same as before – no pain since then!
